Social Alerts on Discord
Showcasing a list of bots that offer social media notifications to post on Disocrd.
This week’s post is going to be a short one. Social media bots, which to use, which work well. Sadly there’s not one bot that does it all, so you’ll probably have to use multiple bots to cover all social media alerts for your server.
Twitter & Reddit bots are probably broken. After twitter made it’s API paid, reddit followed shortly. On July 1st 2023 most bots that posted reddit and twitter alerts were broken.
Personal opinion here, twitter and reddit made their API paid but offered “fuck you” pricing which pretty much screws over small devs and creators. Lot of drama, but oh well. If there’s any workarounds I’ll be sure to update them often on the Discord Resources Notion page
Which bots to use?
Below is a table for bots that offer multiple social media alerts. This table is non-exhaustive at the moment. Once I find more working bots, I’ll add them to the list.
Specific Alert Bots
TweetShift - Twitter only, they may be shutting down but for now, premium users are able to set alerts
FreshTok - TikTok alerts. You’re allowed to get alerts from one public channel for free
QuickVids - TikTok alerts and embeds! It converts tiktok links into video previews which you can view within discord without leaving the app. Works with instagram links too!
Kick Streaming bots
Kick is a new one to this list. Kick’s API is closed so there’s only a handful of bots that are verified to use it. I’ve not tested most of them, but here they are
NotiBot - Kick streaming alerts. I’ve had a word with the dev and they plan to add support for other services as well!
sxlivebot - Supports Kick, Twitch and youtube! (this was a last minute addition, just learnt about it)
KickBot - Kick alerts, looks good.
KickAlerts - Another kick bot.
More bots will be added as I learn about them. For updated versions refer to https://go.daksh.gg/social-media-bots next week when it becomes available publicly. Might just make this one public early, let’s see.
This was quick short resource that can be useful to refer back to. Next week will either be discussing best ways to implement anti-raid or 2FA and best practices / apps. If there’s any you prefer do let me know.
